GBV Helpline

This vital helpline was jointly established by KADO (Karakorum Area Development Organization) in partnership with the Gilgit-Baltistan Police Department, under a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). One of the main objectives of this collaboration was to create a dedicated toll-free number for GBV cases, ensuring that survivors have immediate access to help.

Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Helpline

Gender-Based Violence remains a serious and widespread issue in Gilgit-Baltistan, affecting women and girls. To address this urgent challenge, the GBV Helpline was established as a toll-free, confidential, and accessible support service specifically designed to assist survivors of violence.

AIMS

The GBV Helpline in Gilgit-Baltistan was launched to respond to the urgent need for accessible support services for women and girls facing violence. It is part of a broader effort by both the Police Department GB and KADO to strengthen local systems of protection, justice, and awareness in the region.

To offer a safe and accessible toll-free number for survivors of gender-based violence across 4 districts of Gilgit-Baltistan.

To improve response mechanisms by connecting survivors directly with police.

To encourage reporting of violence by reducing fear, stigma, and barriers to justice in remote and underserved areas.
